Chicano Proverbios and Dichos

 

 

A series of intaglios based upon Francisco Goya’s Caprichos with a modern twist. Titles are based on Mexican American proverbs gathered from books, friends, and family. Many of the images are not literal interpretations of the proverbs, but are a play of imagery and text. The series presently consists of twenty-four (24) images, and continues to grow as proverbs and imagery are gathered and internalized. As the series grows, some prints in the series have been retired and are no longer being reprinted. Due to its popularity, this series is currently in its third printing. Each print encompasses varying technical methods, such as drypoint, engraving, soft ground, aquatint and line etch, all done on copper plates. Each print is hand wiped, printed, and signed by the artist.
